Linderhof Palace is a stunning palace situated in the Bavarian Alps. It was built in the late 1800's by King Ludwig II. He was quite an interesting and eccentric person who met an untimely death at the age of 41. King Ludwig's Linderhof was inspired by Louis XIV's Versailles in France, but on a much smaller scale.
This palace was one of the must sees on mine & Laurel's list. We visited the palace on a beautiful spring day with my sister and her family, and it definitely lived up to our expectations.
These two princesses decided this palace was the perfect size for the two of them, and they'd only need to change a couple of things inside.
Back behind the palace lies one of King Ludwig's most imaginative creations, the Venus Grotto, a man made cave complete with water, lights, and a golden boat. I mean, I wouldn't mind sitting in that boat and relaxing in that cave!
As if the palace and gardens weren't beautiful enough, the surrounding mountain scenery was just magnificent.
I think it's safe to say that this is one of our favorite palaces we've visited so far!
