Paris by Night

I finally made it to the last Paris post, and this one is about one of my favorite things we did there - a night cruise on the Seine River! We made our way to Pont Neuf about an hour before sunset (which didn't occur until 9:30 or so) to find our boarding location. We had some time to kill before our 10:00 departure, so we spent some time enjoying the sunset from the bridge.

The week before we arrived in Paris, the city had removed all the locks from the famous "Love Lock Bridge," Pont des Arts, because part of the bridge's railings collapsed due to the weight of the locks, an estimated 45 tons!! We were all disappointed that we had missed seeing it, so when we happened upon this section of the Pont Neuf that was still covered in locks, we were thrilled.

I'm not sure what it is that's so enthralling about looking at all these locks, but they definitely draw you in. They make for some great photographs as well!

When it was finally time to board our boat, we climbed to the chilly, open, upper deck and set off into the night. It was still fairly light out at 10:00 when we pulled out of the port, but the darkness quickly settled, and Paris lived up to its name, "The City of Light."

Paris, I like you a lot in the day time, but I adore you at night!!
