Felsenlabyrinth Luisenberg

A few weeks ago, we spent a dreary Saturday afternoon exploring the Luisenberg Rock Labyrinth near Wundsiedel, Germany. According to my research, this rock labyrinth is what's known as a felsenmeer which is German for "sea of rock."

While Felsenlabyrinth Luisenberg may be its official name, we quickly nicknamed this lovely place the magical forest. The rock steps go onward and upward through a lush green forest leading you to caves, climbing rocks, gazebos, and more. It just looks like a place where you might see seven little dwarves hard at work or a prince and princess taking a stroll. It was the perfect place to spend a few hours enjoying nature and getting a workout in as well. There were lots of steps!!

The guys doing what they love, climbing rocks!

Laurel & I prefer to go under the rocks!

These are the looks we get when they've been waiting on us to catch up with them.

We had great views once we reached the top of our climb!

There was a really nice picnic area...

as well as a huge wooden cross.

This fenced-in area came to a point behind the cross, and the kids couldn't resist re-enacting the famous scene from "The Titanic".

On our way back down we found a mini castle turret.

My favorite part of the whole trek was this little gazebo. I mean, how cute is that? I think I need one just like it in the backyard of our forever home one day!

This magical forest was a great place to spend an afternoon, and it was something that we all equally enjoyed. There are so many wonderful places to hike and see unique things here in Germany, and that's one of the many reasons I love it so much!
