Opatija, Croatia

We left Budapest the day after Christmas headed for the coast of Croatia. We split the drive up and spent the night somewhere in the middle of nowhere in Croatia, then headed for the coast the following morning. We drove through these foggy mountains before arriving in the beautiful seaside resort town of Opatija.

After several days of intense sight-seeing, we went to Opatija to slow down, relax and take in the beauty of this little town situated on the Adriatic Sea. It was a welcome retreat!

Don & Austin got up the following morning, walked down to this spot, and went for a little swim in the Adriatic Sea in 30 degree weather!! I was perfectly content to just bend down and say I touched it with my hand.

The town still had all of its Christmas decorations up, as well as a tiny little seaside Christmas market.

We had a great meal on our one night in Opatija, and the next morning we were ready to hit the road again and make our way to Slovenia. Before leaving this quaint little town, we found a seaside coffee shop where we indulged in some more really thick hot chocolate and delicious little cookies. Views like these made for a great start to our day!
