My European Exposure: Slovenia: Lake Bled & Vintgar Gorge

Our family spent one night at Lake Bled in Slovenia over Christmas this past year. We thoroughly enjoyed the lake and the castle in the winter season, but I was hoping that I'd get the chance to see it during the spring or summer at some point. When Laurel had a friend from the States come visit this summer, I had the pleasure of being the chauffeur for the trips they planned outside of Germany, and Lake Bled was the first stop!

Y'all, this truly has to be one of the most magical spots in Europe. I love that the lake is relatively small, but big enough for numerous water activities at the same time. The castle perched on the side of the lake and the island in the middle make it look like something out of a fairy tale book. The colors of the water in the summer were the most gorgeous hues of blue and green, and I could not stop taking pictures.

Like so many other places we've visited, I think I could just stay right here forever! As if that weren't enough natural beauty for one day, we left the lake and drove about ten minutes down the road to Vintgar Gorge. The Radovna River cuts it way through this 1.6 kilometer long gorge in spectacular fashion. The colors here were mesmerizing!
