Stonehenge and More

We finished up our time in the UK with three quick stops in the south of England. Being a huge Jane Austen fan, Laurel was thrilled to make a stop in Bath where she and I visited the Jane Austen Centre while Don & Austin wandered around the city.

Next it was off to Highclere Castle, better known to throngs of viewers as Downton Abbey. In real life, this beautiful house is the county seat of the Earl of Carnarvon, and the current Lord & Lady of Carnarvon spend their winters there. Many of the rooms in the house were used in the filming of Downton Abbey, but unfortunately we weren't allowed to take pictures inside. It was a real treat to visit this house and feel like we had momentarily stepped into the lives of the beloved Crawley family.

Last, but certainly not least, was a stop at Stonehenge, the world's most famous ring of standing stones. Just chalk this up to one more thing we never thought we'd see with our own eyes. Incredible!

That brought to an end what will probably go down as the most memorable trip we've ever taken as a family. We all loved England, Scotland, and Ireland so much - the history, the scenery, the food, the people. Forever in love with this little part of the world!
