Riding the Train to Hogwarts (Or at Least Pretending To)

Our last adventure in Scotland was an awesome Harry Potter one. If you're a fan, then you're familiar with the gorgeous bridge to Hogwarts that the Hogwarts Express traveled on. You can take a ride on a Harry Potter steam engine, the Jacobite, over that very bridge, or for a much more economical, yet identical excursion, just buy a ticket for the regular train from Fort William to Mallaig. That's what we did, and it was so much fun. The train ride was about 45 minutes long, filled with gorgeous scenery and great anticipation of crossing the famous bridge!

Our train may not have been a red steam engine with the words "Hogwarts Express" written on the side, but it got the job done. ;)

Beautiful scenery like this kept us looking out our windows for the entire ride.

About 30 minutes into the trip, we made it to the Glenfinnan viaduct, and you could hear the excitement all over the train.

The end of our train ride brought us to Mallaig, a small, colorful port town located on the western coast of Scotland.

We ate lunch in town and had the most amazing seafood chowder I've ever tasted.

We also indulged in some sticky toffee pudding which was my go-to dessert on our UK trip. I ordered it every single time I saw it on a menu because it's just that good!! Chocolate, caramel, and ice cream can't be beat.

Of course we took the train back the way we had come and got to cross the bridge one more time.

We had so much fun hitting up numerous Harry Potter sights in the UK, and this was one of my favorites. Even if you're not a fan, this is a just a great picturesque train ride to take if you're in the area.
